Bengaluru: A dead rat was found in the mid-day meal served for conservancy workers (pourakarmikas) at the Ramamandira Ward office in Rajajinagar on Tuesday. Deepa Nagesh, corporator of Ramamandira Ward said the rodent was discovered in of the containers brought to her ward office.
As news spread, rest of the conservancy workers dumped the food in the dustbin.
Sarfaraz Khan, BBMP, Joint Commissioner, Health, said the local corporator had raised the issue in council. "With the help of the investigation report from Chief Health Officer, we have come to know that the ward office in Ram Mandir Ward has lot of rodents and one of them might have fallen into the food container. The food is supplied from ISKCON and they do not compromise with hygiene. We has asked all the ward offices to be careful and keep the premises clean and free from rodents," said Khan.
