Bengaluru: Not just men on the streets, our girls are not even safe in colleges too! For, a lecturer of a government degree college has allegedly kissed a girl student for wearing a new dress! As bizarre as it may sound, the incident has sent shockwaves among students.
The lecturer in question is learnt to be a reputed writer and cultural personality of the state. What is more shocking is that the college – following a complaint lodged by the victim – has sent him off to a government college in Jewargi in Kalaburagi district on deputation, instead of initiating action against him.
It is alleged that he was provoked by the girl's new dress and forcefully kissed her, said sources in Education Department.
Sources further said that after the girl lodged a complaint with Department of Collegiate Education, they conducted a preliminary investigation which proved the allegations prima facie. Following this, the lecturer has been deputed to a government college in Jewargi, added the sources.
But what has shocked the students is that the college, which is situated just a stone's throw away from Vidhana Soudha has not filed a police complaint yet, thanks to a few vested interests ensured that the lecturer went scot free. They have just deputed him to a government college in Jewargi.
"Is this right on the part of the college? How will our girls be secure in such an institution," wondered a few parents.
