Paes-Hingis ease into French Open pre-quarters

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-05-26 19:27 Paris: Indian tennis ace Leander Paes and his Swiss partner Martina Hingis have breezed into the second round of the French Open campaign after claiming a comfortable straight sets victory in their mixed-doubles event here at Roland Gross on Thursday.The Indo-Swiss pair, who won three Grand Slam titles last season, eased past German-Colombian pair of Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Robert Farah 6-4, 6-4 in their opening clash of the second major of the season.Paes and Hingis will now face either fourth-seed pair of Yaroslava Shvedova or Florin Mergea or Czech Republic-Polish pair of Lucie Hradecka and Marcin Matkowski for a spot in the quarterfinals.Meanwhile, Sania Mirza will also begin her mixed doubles campaign with her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig when they will take on local pair of Mathilde Johansson and Tristan Lamasine later today.
