Submitted by Kumuda on Sat, 2016-06-11 18:08 Bengaluru: Dissidents in JD(S) wanted the party to win but there was no proper response from the party supremo and party state president in this regard, claimed MLA N Cheluvarayaswamy. He further said that they had not even thought of violating the party whip but the senior leaders failed to respond to them. Indicating that all is not well in the JD(S), the Nagamangala MLA said that voting for the Congress candidate was a collective decision by the dissident leaders. “We have kept their promise made to the Congress candidates,” he added. It could be recalled that JD(S) MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan had openly declared that he would support Congress candidature instead of party’s nominee BM Farooq, a real estate tycoon. Admitting that there was no favourable environment in the party, Cheluvarayaswamy was skeptical about future of the leaders, but maintained that he was a well-wisher of the party. According to him, eight MLAs cross voted against the party whip in the Rajya Sabha polls and five in the Legislative Council elections. However, he refused to divulge the information as to whom they voted for.
