Being in the party he could have joined hands with me to fight against Siddaramaiah,” he said during a press conference at the press club. “SM Krishna is a great leader and able politician. Losing such a person is a great loss to the Congress party,” said Poojary, adding that Krishna was pained as he had been sidelined due to his age. “Janata Dal is ruling the state, not the Congress. Some people say that it is a Kuruba government but I don’t agree with that statement because it is not right to insult any community,” said Poojary. Continuing, Poojary said he too had been targeted by a section in the party but he never chose to leave as it would have emboldened the opposition, “CM Siddaramaiah’s pride and ego has greatly increased, he is bad to the party. Until Siddaramaiah is out of the party, the Congress party will not prosper. When Siddaramaiah has done good work I have appreciated it and when he has committed mistakes I have tried to correct him. I request all the party members not to quit the party,” said Poojary. Throwing light on the sequence of events, Poojary said Krishna met Sonia Gandhi and she advised him not to leave the party, saying time will set everything right. “But S M Krishna was in a hurry to quit and without listening to Sonia Gandhi he quit the party. His decision has hurt Sonia. There was an opportunity for S M Krishna to change his mind. I urge Krishna not to join any other party because the Nehru family does not play dirty politics. I think if Krishna goes back to Sonia Gandhi and accepts his mistake, she will take him back to the party,” said Poojary.
