Submitted by Kumuda on Thu, 2016-11-03 15:42 Bengaluru: Former minister Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, legislators SR Vishwanath (BJP) and Munirathna (Cong) received a big relief as the Karnataka High Court quashed the cases against them on Thursday. BJP leader Katta Subramanya Naidu had been facing charges of irregularities in KIADB land acquisition and also amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income. Following this, he lost his ministerial portfolio and was even sent to jail along with his son Katta Jagadish during the Yeddyurappa government. However, he was released on bail over health grounds but investigations continued. Naidu faced further trouble when Enforcement Directorate decided to attach his wealth. He had moved the High Court challenging the private complaint against him. Justice Anand Byra Reddy on Thursday allowed the petition and quashed the charges. Similarly, SR Vishwanath another BJP Leader and Yelahanka MLA was facing charges of illegal denotification, following a private complaint filed by RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath. The matter had reached the High Court with the MLA challenging the private plaint. However, the long-drawn legal battle ended today, with Justice Anand Byra Reddy dismissing the complaint against him. Even Congress leader and Rajarajeshwarinagar MLA Munirathna Naidu too received the similar relief from the High Court.
