Inspector shoots self to death in Malur police station

Submitted by Rashmi on Tue, 2016-10-18 14:22 Kolar: In a shocking incident,  Raghavendra, circle inspector of Malur police station has committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver inside the police station in the wee hours on TuesdaySources said that he had left behind a death note in which he has written that he is responsible for the suicide and did not mention the reason as to why he  killed himself. Raghavendra was on night patrol on Monday night.  Divya Gopinath, District superintendent of police, rushed to Malur immediately to check if there were any clues and made inquiry. Speaking to media, she said, "The actual reason for his extreme step is not yet known. The  forensic team has taken death note and revolver into custody. At present, a case has been registered and investigation is on."It is said that a case had been registered with the Lokayukta against Raghavendra  about his involvement in gambling. The case is presently being heard by the High court. In 2014, Lokayukta has raided him. He was remanded into judicial custody by the Lokayukta court. Raghavendra is a native of Narsapura near Vemagal. He was a 2003 batch police officer. He had served as police sub-inspector at Sarjapur police station in Anekal taluk for three years since 2012. He also had worked in Nandagudi police station near Sarjapur. He was promoted as circle inspector two years back.
