The body of baby Amritha was found in the well that belonged to her family. Basaiah Swami and Lakshmi of Boodinala have complained to police that their daughter was allegedly sacrificed in a black magic ritual. Amritha was their second daughter. It is said that Amritha went missing after going to sleep with her mother Lakshmi and other family members. Lakshmi, who woke up around 3 am, did not find her child. She alerted her family members, who began to search everywhere. Later, they spotted the body in an abandoned well behind their house. Amritha's grandfather Rachaiah alleged that they found vermillion, rice, turmeric and other things - that are used in black magic - near the well, where Amritha's body was found. According to Shashiswamy, a relative of Basaiah, they had seen vermillion and turmeric spread near the well in the evening, but ignored it. Superintendent of Police Vinayak Patil visited the spot. Vadagera police have registered a case and are investigating.
