Bengaluru boy bags bronze medal at karate tournament in Croatia

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-07-16 19:03 Bengaluru: MP Jagruth, a fifth standard student at the Indian Public School in Bengaluru, has made the city proud by bagging a bronze medal at the prestigious World Karate Youth Cup held at Umag, Croatia. Jagruth, 11, secured a bronze medal in the under 12-year category at the tournament held between June 27-July 3, 2016 and which featured contestants from 65 countries. He had recently won a gold medal at the KAI sub-junior (under 10 category) National Karate championship held in New Delhi in 2015. Jagruth, who has been practicing karate under the guidance of his father, also an international karate gold medallist, says that his passion for karate had been kindled by watching movies featuring karate. Jagruth has won medals at Shihan Bonnie Roberts Memorial National Karate championship 2012, international invitational open karate championship in 2012, and the sixth state level Dasara Karate championship. He also represented Karnataka in Hyderabad at the sixth south India gymnastics championship in 2013.
