ST Somashekar from Yeshwanthpura constituency, Munirathna Naidu from RR Nagar and Byrathi Basavaraj from KR Puram failed to find favour with CM Siddaramaiah in the recent reshuffle, and it has not gone down well with their supporters. Airing his unhappiness, GK Venkatesh, Corporator, Yeshwanthpur ward, said, “ST Somashekhar, Munirathna Naidu and Byrathi Basavaraj were instrumental in capturing BBMP from the BJP,” he said. “The same leaders also played a key role in Rajya Sabha election and ensured KC Ramamurthy, the third candidate, got elected. At least one of the three should have been accommodated. Since it didn’t happen, corporators who gained entry into politics with the help of these leaders will also resign from BBMP.” Another corporator Arya Srinivas from Hemmigepura ward, said the Congress owed its rise in Yeshwanthpura to the work done by ST Somshekhar. “Hemmigepura ward has seen lot of development because of Somashekhar. If he decides to resign, we will also resign,” he said. M Velunayakar, Corporator from Lakshmidevi Nagar ward in RR Assembly, said he would resign if MLA Munirathna Naidu chooses to resign. ST Somashekhar, who had expressed unhappiness over Vokkaligas and city MLA's not getting elected, said, “We will discuss with our community leaders and announce our decision on Tuesday,” he said. MLA Munirathna Naidu and Byrathi Basavaraj left the decision to the party high command. “We have a long way to go in politics and we go by the party rule,” said both the MLAs.
