According to sources, Ramya is likely to be nominated to the state legislative council and offered a post in Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s cabinet. The party high command is also reportedly considering elevating energy minister and Vokkaliga community strongman DK Shivakumar to the KPCC president post to prepare the party cadre for the 2018 assembly elections. According to sources, presently three MLC seats (all nominated) are vacant. With Mandya MLA HM Ambareesh all set to quit the Congress and his wife Sumalatha looking to join the BJP, the Congress wants to retain Ramya in the party fold. "Hectic negotiations are on. Presently, Siddaramaiah’s cabinet has three vacancies, and if DKS resigns it will be four. So it is possible to accommodate Ramya. She will be promoted as Vokkaliga face," said a senior party leader who wished to be anonymous. Meanwhile, several BJP leaders from Mandya have warned the party state leadership against admitting Ramya into party fold, as she had sharply criticised PM Narendra Modi and Hindutva organisations on many occasions in the past.
