Congress president Sonia Gandhi has summoned Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and KPCC President G Parameshwara for an emergency meeting in Delhi on Friday. According to sources, Sonia and party V-P Rahul Gandhi are upset with the goings-on in the party in the state. Parameshwara, who is currently in London, has been asked to fly to Delhi immediately. pollaroid-106 Highly placed sources said the high command had taken a serious view of the two recent PR fiascos for the party - the diary-gate and the steel bridge controversies. The leaked diary of MLC K Govindarju had badly dented the image of the party as a whole. Rahul Gandhi reportedly is unhappy with Congress leaders in Karnataka. "High command will also ask KPCC leaders about the diary issue and the need for the MLC to write a diary which has no connection with the party," sources said. According to the sources, the high command is also thinking of changing the leadership of KPCC and plan for the 2018 polls. "Party will take a decision on the KPCC president post,” sources said. pollaroid-107 The AICC is keen to retain Karnataka after pre-poll surveys done in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Manipur showed that the party may not perform well in these states. The recent BJP strategy of attracting disgruntled Congress leaders including SM Krishna, Jayaprakash Hegde, V Srinivas Prasad is also being seen as a threat to the party. This has made the AICC to think about revamping the party.
