As a result, the party is now planning to “snatch” influential leaders from Congress and JD(S). If sources are to be believed, the Saffron party is eyeing Fisheries Minister Pramod Madhwaraj to strengthen its base in the Mogaveera community before the next elections. Mogaveera community is one of the strongest communities in South Canara, Udupi and North Canara districts. They form a crucial community votes in these regions. With no strong face from the community in the party, BJP wants to bring in Pramod Madhwaraj to its fold and win seats for it. Sources said, the party has extended invitation to minister Madhwaraj. In fact, the BJP lacks a suitable candidate in Udupi city constituency. Considering his popularity, the party is taking the help of his mother and former minister Manorama Madhwaraj. The party is luring him with a cabinet post, if it comes to power, it is learnt.
