BJP stayed away from the all-party meeting convened on Wednesday to discuss share of Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. According to sources, JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda spoke to BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa and Opposition party leader in the House KS Eshwarappa and urged them to support the state government’s stand on Cauvery issue. He is said to have told them to draw inspiration from political parties in Tamil Nadu that have joined for the cause of Cauvery. “This is the time to forget political boundaries and unite in the interest of public,” he is said to have told BJP leaders. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah met his senior and former chief minister SM Krishna to seek his guidance to solve the Cauvery crisis on Thursday.
