The former chief minister has written a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the issue. He said that the state police are capable of investigating the issue and there was no need for the Saffron party leader to write to the Centre. The government has already initiated action against those raising slogans against India, he added. On complaints that the police caned the ABVP members for protesting, the minister said they were far from true. “The activists had not taken permission from police to protest. Such a situation might lead to law and order problem. However, the police tried to stop them from protesting,” he added. Reacting to reports that some of the students who shouted against the country belonged to Sri Siddartha Institute of Technology in Tumakuru – run by him – Parameshwara said the police are looking to the complaints.
