According to the sources in the Congress party, George was asked to resign by leaders and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to avoid unnecessary allegations. George said he was confident of getting a clean chit in this case. "I have not done anything to DySP Ganapathi and I am confident of winning legal battle," he said, adding that he would decide on the future course of action after speaking to party leaders. The chief minister has also asked Pranab Mohanty and AM Prasad to go on compulsory leave and join duty only after getting cleared of all charges in the case. In a related development, the chief minister has reportedly called for an emergency meeting of the cabinet to discuss the ramifications of the court order.
