Addressing a gathering at an interaction programme organised by the party’s legal cell, former prime minister Deve Gowda said “My political detractors are trying to finish me off, but they are daydreaming.” He further said that he has struggled a lot but he will not sit quiet. He will see to it that the party will have its own office and come back to power, he added. On complaints that the party has reduced to a ‘father-son’ party, Deve Gowda clarified that he never introduced his sons to the party. While Kumaraswamy was busy with his film production, Revanna was not groomed for politics. In fact, Kumaraswamy was introduced to politics by others. Apparently agitated over rebel parties allegations that it was impossible to survive in JD(S), he said one need not attach any significance to such complaints. For an Iftar party hosted by Deve Gowda, many were allegedly asked not to attend. However, there was a huge turnout, said Gowda, indirectly criticising Chamarajpet MLA B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan. When asked if the Congress and the JD(S) were coming together to unseat Legislative Council chairman DH Shankarmurthy and bring in JD(S) MLC Basavaraj Horatti in his place, Gowda said he would agree if all the three parties unanimously elected Horatti.
