Two officials of Lajpat Nagar Children Home sacked following complaints of child abuse

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-06-03 19:15 New Delhi: Delhi's Women and Child Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar on Friday ordered the termination of two officials of Lajpat Nagar Village Cottage Home for children following a complaint against them of misbehaving with girls.The minister has ordered registration of an FIR against Children's Home Superintendant with immediate effect.The stern action came after the minister's inspection of the home, when he came to know of a complaint about the Children's Home Superintendant misbehaving with girls.It was also brought to the minister's notice that the agitated children had protested against such misbehavior.On reaching the spot, the minister asked the officials to talk to the children and find out about their problems in presence of women staff members.The Superintendant had allegedly taken minor girls to an isolated room and tried to abuse them physically. It was also brought to notice that a woman welfare officer was also involved in misbehaviour along with the Superintendant. The woman has also been terminated from service.After consulting the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), the minister asked them to register an FIR against the Superintendant under the provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO).
