The political crisis in Tamil Nadu seems to be over as Sasikala Natrajan – the long time aide of deceased former chief minister J Jayallaithaa – has been senteneced by the Apex court. The division bench comprising Justices Pinaki Chandra Ghosh and Amitav Roy has held her guilty and sentenced her to four years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs ten crores.  Sasikala, who is accused number two in this nearly two decades old case was acquitted by a High Court bench. The special public prosecutor in the disproportionate assets case, B V Acharya had urged the more reluctant Government of Karnataka to appeal against the case as the judgment had several errors.
