Submitted by Rashmi on Tue, 2017-01-10 13:34 New Delhi: After a BSF Jawan Tej Bahaddur Yadav exposed alleged substandard food supplied to the soldiers, BSF IG DK Upadhyay denied these allegations and stated that the jawan had indulged in indisciplinary action, on earlier occasions. Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, IG Upadhyay expressed shock over the complaints made by BSF Jawan reasoning that BSF DIG had visited the particular location - from where the video was shot - just a couple of days ago and none of the jawans complained anything so far. However, he was quick to add that "I agree that the food - supplied to BSF jawans - may not taste great but have never received complaints, so far."It is a sensitive matter for us and will probe and take action accordingly." "The jawan has posted the video on the social media, instead, he could have approached us. We would have been happier had he addressed his problems to the Grievance Redressal System," he said adding that soldiers are restricted from using mobile while on duty. He further said that Tej Bahaddur Yadav was an alcoholic, had indulged in indisciplinary actions on earlier occasion and was to be court-martialed in 2010. But considering his family, he wasn't dismissed and allowed to work. However, he has sought for voluntary retirement from the service. Tej Bahaddur Yadav had posted a video about substandard food provided to soldiers on his Facebook account. He had also stated that while he has no complaints over the government as the government sends necessary ration, it is the senior officers to be blamed. He had also expressed fear that after posting the video, "anything can happen to me."I have seen a video regarding a BSF jawan's plight. I have asked the HS to immediately seek a report from the BSF
