The two-member bench also asked the Centre to constitute the Cauvery Management Board at the earliest.During the hearing, the Apex Court bench comprising Jusitices Deepak Mishra and Uday U Lalit rapped the state government for violating its order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu, on two occasions. The bench also warned the state of contempt proceedings, if they fail to obey the orders like other states.Dr.Ambedkar's constitution has given rights to protect the state especially for drinking water(human life) equally to SC and Legislature. https://t.co/nINZNHGPRn— M B Patil (@reachmbp) September 30, 2016The Centre – during the hearing – informed the court that the meeting with the Centre remained inconclusive as Tamil Nadu refused to accept the State’s proposal to depute fact-finding committee. At this juncture, Attorney General Nikhil Rohtagi submitted that Karnataka has refused to release water and walked out of the court and sought more time. Later, he submitted that it requires more time to set up Cauvery Water Management Board but the Tamil Nadu insisted on immediate constitution of the board. The Bench sought to know whether the board could be constituted before October 4. When the Centre agreed, the bench ordered it to constitute the board and report about the status in the next hearing on October 6.Interestingly, the matter pertaining to the constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Board is pending before the Apex Court which is scheduled to come up for hearing in the third week of October.
