1,500 African nationals will be deported from city: Home Minister

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-07-02 12:12 Representational ImageBengaluru: In the wake of the recent arrest of a Nigerian national, Home Minister G Parameshwara said the state had prepared a list of about 1,500 African nationals who would deported for overstaying. A copy of the list has been sent to the Union Home Ministry too, he added.“In Karnataka, particularly in Bengaluru, Deputy Commissioner of Police of each zone is tasked with collecting data of foreign nationals. Overstaying for one or two months is not an an issue. But if Africans have been overstaying for several years illegally, they will be sent back,” he said.Referring to the recent incident involving a Nigerian national in the city, he said the state government had appraised the embassy and the concerned consulate.Police Commissioner NS Megharik said the police had not filed any case against any foreign national since deporting them would become difficult.
