Vijayanagar police inspector suspended for dereliction of duty

Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-06-20 20:50 Bengaluru: HV Sanjeev Gowda, Inspector of Vijayanagar police station, has been suspended on charges of dereliction of duty for failing to maintain law and order in his jurisdiction.Police Commissioner NS Megharikh ordered for the suspension following a report submitted by Additional Commissioner of Police (West) KSR Charan Reddy, which stated that the inspector had failed in maintaining law and order, and that two murders had taken place in his jurisdiction recently. The inspector reportedly had tried to shield Mahesh, a rowdy who was murdered in a coffee shop on June 16, in a murder case. “In April, a history-sheeter named Harsha was murdered in Vijayanagar police station limits. Though Mahesh’s role was evident in the case as the CCTV footage revealed his presence at the spot, the inspector had tried to shield him. Recently, Mahesh was also murdered. After learning about these developments, the commissioner had ordered for an enquiry,” an officer said.
