Govt lends a hand, launches website to promote handicrafts

Submitted by alvin on Mon, 2016-06-13 20:13 Bengaluru: A website to encourage sale of handmade products made by women’s groups was launched by Women and Child Welfare minister Umashri on Monday at the Sthri Shakti Bhavan in Madiwala.“Handmade products made by members of various women’s groups are of good quality. So we have decided to sell their products online in coordination with the Make in India Foundation,” she said, adding that women would be also given basic computer and online marketing skills.Umashri also said the government was providing loans under the Women Development Scheme without additional rate of interest to encourage women to start their own business.Nagraju, CEO, Make In India foundation, urged the State Women and Child Welfare Department to provide a platform for handicrafts at various exhibitions. “This will help women to become financially strong,” he said.Rajneesh Goel, Additional Chief Secretary to Government Women
