The equipment increases the dissolved oxygen levels, balances biochemical oxygen demand and chemical oxygen demand in lakes.”Announcing initiatives to save the lake, the minister said he had directed BWSSB officials to carry out sewage diversion work and asked the storm-water department also to coordinate. “State Pollution Control Board has also cleared Rs 4 crores for the installation of sewage treatment plant,” said George adding that a committee had been formed to develop Bellandur tank as well.Chief Engineer of Lakes, Satish BV, who accompanied the minister, said in addition to the Orich equipment, BBMP had also installed two aerators and will install another one by Thursday. “The fountains at the sedimentary tank help in increasing DO levels in lake. The BBMP has already built a trash-arresting barrier,” he said.He also said DNP International, a firm that monitors water quality levels, had been asked to fix water testing meters. “The machine will update the parameters every three minutes and any significant changes can be transferred into a pen drive,” said Satish.
