It may be recalled here that the doctors of AYSUSH and UNANI board had been protesting against Dr Shettigar. The protesters had alleged that despite corruption charges against him, Dr Shettigar continued to serve the board. They had also held Dr Shettigar responsible for the death of Dr Hussain, a member of AYUSH Board who passed away in Shimoga in March. However, with the government issuing order in this regard Dr Shettigar would be given three months’ notice to move out immediately. Dr Poornima Bhat will be the new registrar of KAUP board from Saturday. Dr Shettigar has been asked to report to the director’s office. Bhusnurmath Rajashekar, President of NIMA, State branch, said, “Our efforts have finally paid off,” he said adding a CoD inquiry need to be initiated against the corruption charges that the board is currently facing.
