State govt to introduce ‘Pink Police’ to ensure safety of women in B’luru

Bengaluru: The state government has decided to introduce 'Pink Police' patrolling teams to ensure the safety of women in the city.

This was disclosed by Home Minister G Parameshwara at the ongoing assembly session.

Parameshwara said the ministry would deploy 51 Pink Hoysala vans at key locations. "Each van will have three police personnel, one of whom will be a woman,” he said.

The patrol vehicles will also have a dedicated telephone line for victims. Parameshwara said the facility would be extended to other districts as well.

The move comes after a series of attacks of women in Bengaluru became national headlines and badly dented the image of the government and the city.
