Yet Bescom doesn’t seem to care. The two electric poles are on the either side of Siddaramaiah’s private residence located on 16th Main Road in MC Layout, Vijayanagar. The electric poles have developed cracks, are completely rusted, and likely to fall any moment. Umesh Shetty, BJP corporator, Ward no 104, said he was aware of the problem and had written to Bescom officials five times. “I told them to fix new poles but they never did. It has been five months now. All they need to do is to fix two new poles. If these poles fall during heavy rains, then it might cost lives,” he said. When contacted, Chandru, Assistant Engineer, Bescom (Rajajinagar Division) said they had delayed installing the new poles due to “road repair and footpath work”. “We hope to do it in a week time,” he said.
