The lecturer on his Facebook post wrote that the college functions in a Taliban style. The move has upset the LGBT community in the city. But a few students have claimed that the professor used his class to impose his views on gay rights on the students. The college administration stated that following complaints by students and some parents against the lecturer, Ashly was sacked. But Ashly said he was summoned to the principal's office while he was conducting the class. "Principal told me that students were disturbed by my personal opinions. Management wanted the college to remove him and he was relieved, he said. Ashly complained that the management did not approve of his homosexuality, hence he was removed. But the college has outrightly denied his allegation. Termination is nothing to do with his sexual orientation, the management said.
