Two pregnant women among 35 passengers had a harrowing time when the bailhongal-bound bus - in which they were travelling - was near-submerged at the Anandrao circle when rains lashed the city on Tuesday night. The bus had just left majestic bus stand and it got stuck near the under bridge at Anandrao circle making it difficult for the driver to move as the stretch was clogged with rainwater. With no way to go, some of the passengers screamed for help. A few passers-by in the other side of the railway track came to their rescue. They pulled the passengers from the window. They climbed a railway bridge. But as they climbed up, a train just passed behind them. A slight slip-up would have risked their lives. It is learnt that BWSSB has dug the ground for relaying the pipeline leaving roads clogged with rainwater. Fire personnel have rushed to the spot to drain out water from the stretch. Mayor Padmavathi is at the spot inspecting the situation.
