Stay in a flat and own a Great Dane, Golden Retriever? Better look for a new house

According to the new guidelines, owning dog breeds such as Great Dane, English Mastiff, Bulldog, Boxer, Rottweiler, St. Bernard, German Shepherd, and Golden Retriever will not be permitted in apartments, Dog owners also need to have mandatory licence, separate breeding licence, sterilise pet dogs, and owners will be penalised if they do not pick up dog waste from public places. "We received many complaints from residents who said big dogs created lot of menace and noise. If the owners of the flat do not want to give up their dogs, then they have to move to an independent house," said an official from the BBMP’s Animal Husbandary Department. However, the guidelines are yet to come into force.
