Wipro was supposed to pay Rs21 crores as property tax. Due to some variation in amount, the BBMP has asked them to pay 19 crores first,” said Gunashekhar. He also said the BBMP, which ordered resurvey of over 70 properties, will crack down on owners who declared less value to avoid taxes. “As per estimation, Rs231 crore extra tax will come to palike’s account. A tender is called for resurvey of such properties,” he added. The official said that post-demonetisation, banks were not cooperating with tax payers.“Tax payers are facing hurdles when they go to bank. Hence we will make arrangements for the bank representative to come to BBMP zonal offices to facilitate payment,” said Gunashekhar.
