The U 200 insulin has similar efficiency to the already available U 40 and U 100. As the concentration of Insulin in U 200 is higher, lesser volume of insulin will deliver higher dosage units to the patients, thereby reducing the pain and the cost. The innovation was widely discussed, debated and approved in the recently held CME conducted by Disha, the medical unit of GT Foundation at Lalit Ashok which was attended by more than 200 senior physicians, diabetologists and endocrinologists. “The cost per unit comes down significantly and we can reach larger population of diabetes patients. This U 200 insulin would be a significant step in taking insulin to the needy,” said Dr. Manohar KN, Consultant Dialectologist, Manipal Hospital.
