Residents complained about defence personnel belonging to the Parachute Regiment who recently destroyed the newly asphalted road on alleged security grounds. During the visit, PRTC claimed that as per the military records the land belonged to them, but Deputy Commissioner Shankar said the land belonged to revenue department and referred to the HC’s directive asking the PRTC to open the road for public use. George, who heard the residents’ plea, assured them of taking up matter with higher authorities. At the moment, the road is being relaid by the PRTC as per the DC’s directions. Later, George visited Sahayapuram ward and instructed the BBMP to undertake construction of a hospital in place of a hostel following request from the area corporator. The hostel, belonging to Social Welfare Department, was no longer in use. He also instructed officials to speed up works taken up under Nagarothana scheme in Devarajeevanahalli ward. The minister directed the BBMP to begin work on a ground level reservoir in Kavalbyrasandra within a month for which the government had already provided the land. MLA Akanda Srinivasa Murthy, City Mayor Mrs G Padmavathi, corporators Elumalai (Sagayapuram ward), Sampath Raj (Devarajeevanahalli) and Ms Sajida Begum ( Muneswara ward) accompanied the minister.
