But the demonetisation seems to have taken the sheen out of the fest that was officially inaugurated on Monday. Customers purchasing groundnuts are offering only Rs 100 or Rs 2000 to the farmers and vendors. But the farmers and vendors are finding it difficult to provide them change. Besides, the BBMP has strictly banned plastic bags at the fair. It has directed the vendors to use either the paper bags or cloth bags. "Nobody buys groundnut in bulk. It is becoming difficult to find change for small quantities hence most of the customers hesitate to buy. This year seems to be a rough year," said a farmer at the fair.
