Carnatic vocalist Balamurali Krishna no more

Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2016-11-22 17:58 Chennai: Padma Vibhushan, carnatic vocalist Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna passed away here on Tuesday. He was 86. A child prodigy, Balamurali Krishna was a direct descendant of Parupalli Ramakrishnayya Pantulu. He gave his first full-fledged concert at the age of eight. So far, he has presented over 25,000 concerts. He has composed over 400 compositions in various languages that includes films too. In Kannada, he composed songs for movies, 'Muthina Hara', 'Madhwacharya' and 'Hamsageethe'. His famous devotional renditions in Kannada include ‘Indu Enage Govinda’, ‘Naa Ninna Dhyanadoliralu’ and others. He was also part of great ensemble in the popular ‘mile sur mera tumhara’ national integration song. He has been awarded Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Chevalier des Arts et Letters too.
