The move is part of the nationwide protest planned by petrol pump owners who are demanding the implementation of the recommendations of the Apoorva Chandra Committee. To make sure their demands are met, petrol pumps are likely to operate only between 9am and 5pm from November 5. But the two-day protest will not affect the BMTC. “We have enough stock to operate all the buses and the protest will not impact our operation,” said a BMTC official. The Karnataka Petroleum Dealers’ Association is demanding a hike in the commission given to petrol dealers citing increased transportation charges. According to reports, the Union Petroleum Ministry will convene a meeting of public sector oil firms and fuel station owners association on November 4 to resolve the vexed issue.
