KSPCB’s Lakshman said residents can lodge complaints about loud fireworks either with the local police or the BBMP control room. "We have directed the BBMP to notify community areas for celebrations. We have also banned crackers above 125 decibels across the city. Other crackers will be allowed only if they do not create any nuisance to people,” he said. Lakshman said the BBMP and NGOs have been asked to conduct awareness programmes in respective wards. "BBMP has been directed to initiate action against any complaint received from general public on priority basis,” he said. BBMP Commissioner Manjunath Prasad was not available for comment.
