This was when I got the call from the officer that he was busy and would take some time to meet me. By now, I got a call from an acquaintance that he would wish to meet me at a hotel in Jayanagar. So, after getting down from my car, I directly headed inside the hotel to meet him. As I was inside the hotel, another acquaintance approached my car driver who was waiting outside under the pretext of keeping three bags in the car by falsely saying that I had instructed him to do so. The car driver had agreed and this was when the acquaintance had videographed the bag. He immediately went back to the car driver and said that he will personally take the bags and my driver nodded his head,” said Gowda.Appaji Gowda said ever since the incident, “those people” had been “blackmailing” him of releasing the video to media if he failed to “heed their words”. “Even two days back, these people tried to approach me with the video and broker a deal. However, as announced earlier, I have never yielded to these black mails or pressure. Now, the same video is being shown in a Kannada TV Channel.  If you look at this video carefully, one will realise that this entire operation has been tried to tarnish my image. There is no currency note and only the bags being placed in the car are shown. Is there any proof of me taking the money?” asked Appaji Gowda. He said Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha had been targeted as it was doing “excellent work” and some people were jealous of the Sangha. “As an immediate measure, I am filing a defamation suit and also filing a police complaint requesting the authorities to verify the CCTv images and investigate the whole matter,” he said.
