BMTC, KSRTC, autos and cabs have extended support to the strike and will be off the roads. Holiday has been declared for schools and colleges by Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner V Shankar. However, BMRCL said it would run services as per the schedule. Banks, insurance companies, gas, power and oil utilities, electricity services, transport, mining, telecom will be shut on Friday. But medical shops, ambulance services, hospitals, train services are exempt from the strike call. As many as 10 trade unions have given call for a countrywide general strike to protest the “anti-people, anti-national and anti-worker” policies of the NDA government at the Centre. Trade unions are demanding minimum wage to be hiked to Rs18,000 from the present Rs 9,100.
