Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-08-11 17:28 Bengaluru: In its continued raid on tax defaulters, the BBMP on Thursday, raided JW Marriot, an upscale hotel on Vittal Mallya Road. A team of Revenue department officials from East Zone of Palike raided the hotel which had to pay over Rs five crore as tax. The officials seized a table, two plush sofa sets, six leather sofa sets and four chairs during their raid. When the hotel manager offered to provide a cheque of Rs 1.95 crore to the officials, it was rejected. Yathish Kumar, Joint Commissioner, East Zone asked him to pay the full amount. The hotel has now been issued warrant to pay up the tax due.
