Silk Board, Madiwala and BTM, watch out for more floods!

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-08-05 18:13 Bengaluru: For residents in south-east Bengaluru, it is bad news. The Sarakki lake is in flood, and if the rains continue, Madiwala is likely to be deluged again, marooning the residential areas around Madiwala and Sarakki lakes yet again. While the BBMP is still grappling with after-effects of flood that the city witnessed last week, Deputy Conservator of Forests Dipika Bajpai has put out this “alert” on her twitter account, on Friday. Sarakki lake is under flood. Alert for Madiwala again. Puttenhalli/Sarakki series feeds into Madiwala— Dipika Bajpai (@dipika_bajpai) August 4, 2016While she has not worded in detail, the tweet has certainly sent shockwaves among many Bengalureans. For, they are not prepared for another worst nightmare. And nightmare it is, considering they have to depend on bumbling BBMP to rescue them.Speaking to bfirst.in, DCF Dipika acknowledged that it is an alert for residents living around Madiwala lake. “Presently, Sarakki lake is overflowing and it is interconnected to Madivala Lake. Hence, the tweet was an alert to residents and officials to be prepared if it rains continuously. Surrounding areas might be in flood again,” the officer added. The chief minister has categorically directed the officers concerned to clear encroachments on storm water drains, and the work has begun, though slowly. With dark skies above, the citizens only hope that they are not left in deep waters again.Thr is a Vision group fir tourism, for city development.
