Bande's wife loses battle to brain tumour


Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-07-09 09:55 Kalaburagi: Slain police sub-inspector Mallikarjun Bande's wife Mallamma 40, who was fighting brain tumour, succumbed on Saturday morning. She was under medication and breathed her last in the wee hours of Saturday at her sister's house in Alanda near Kalaburagi. Mallamma, who was working as anganwadi supervisor in Kalaburagi city, is survived by two children. She was diagnosed with suspected malignancy in the brain and was battling for life. Mallamma Bande underwent a surgery to remove the tumour at NIMHANS in Bengaluru, and was under medication in a private hospital, before being discharged recently. Mallikarjun Bande Mallikarjun Bande's father Kariyappa Bande during a protest in Bengaluru Last February, she along with her two children and family members had protested near Vidhana Soudha demanding medical help. The Medical Education Department had assured of medical expenses. Over Rs 14 lakh was released from the Chief Minister's fund for her medical expenses.  Mallikarjun Bande had lost his life after getting shot on head from point blank range during the gun fight between Gulbarga police and Munna darabar, a wanted rowdy-sheeter and notorious underworld sharpshooter in Kalaburagi, in which he too was hunted down.
