Police arrest 7 BJP workers in two separate incidents

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-06-16 15:48 Kasaragod: In two separate incidents, the Kasargod police have arrested seven BJP workers in the district. Chandan Naik (25) and P Harish (25) have been picked up by the police for assaulting Ansaf, a stationery shop employee and his friend Mohammed Sheriff during the counting of day of Assembly votes. Ansaf who has been grievously injured in the attack is still undergoing treatment in Mangaluru. The police are on the lookout for three more persons said to be involved in the crime. In another incident, five Saffron party workers have been taken into custody for allegedly attacking a group of police personnel during Theyyam festival at Uduma in April, according to a press release issued here. The arrested are Shivakumar, 33, Sreejith, 25, Rahul, 26, Girish Kumar, 37 and Purushothaman.
