According to the initiative 'Selfie with percolation pits', villagers have to dig water percolation pits in their land and take a selfie alongside their percolation pit. The image should be sent to the MLA's WhatsApp number (9071937715) to take part in the awareness drive. Sunil Kumar said the campaign was aimed at tackling drinking water crisis during summer. "We have a target of digging 25,000 percolation pits in the taluk as part of Parisara Utsava 2016 on August 1,' said the MLA, adding that the theme of the fest was 'Increasing global warming - depleting groundwater table'. We also have a goal of planting 1 lakh saplings in the taluk in four years, Sunil Kumar said.
