Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-06-15 19:09 Manipal: Manipal University’s march towards excellence has reflected in the latest Asia Ranking List issued by Quacquarelli Symonds University, where the university has been ranked at 200th position. Top 350 universities across 17 countries were considered for the Asia Ranking List 2016, and Manipal University has for the first time broken into the top 200. Reacting to the news, Chancellor, Dr Ramdas M Pai said he was sure of the university bettering its rank in the coming years. “We have done well in the rankings within the country, which is indication of the good progress we are making. I am also glad with the progress we are making in research,” said the chancellor. Vice Chancellor Dr H Vinod Bhat, said he was “delighted” over the news. “The last one year saw operationalising of several new initiatives including three Centres of Excellence – Centre for Avionics, Centre for Newborn Errors of Metabolism and Centre for Biophotonics,” said Dr Bhat, adding that he was confident about the university improving its ranking. Manipal University and few of its constituent institutions have done exceedingly well in some of the rankings this year. It was the top ranked private university in the Education World Survey and the university also topped the charts in THE WEEK survey. Manipal College of Dental Sciences was declared the best in the country by both the Union HRD Ministry and by The Week magazine, with the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration also securing the top position in the survey. KMC Manipal was second and KMC Mangaluru 9th among private institutions and Manipal Institute of Technology 9th among private engineering colleges by the Week.
