It is said that Korangrapady branch of Vijaya Bank received a request from D’Costa to transfer money from his account to his wife’s account in South Indian Bank towards her medical expenses. However, the email appeared to have been allegedly hacked and the bank authorities received another mail requesting to transfer the amount to account no. 629205502043 held by Pavan Singh with ICICI Bank at Chandni Chowk, Delhi. Apparently, the bank staff decided to consider the second mail and as requested transferred the amount. The fraud came to light when the South Indian Bank didn’t receive the amount as requested by the NRI. A complaint in this regard has been filed by the bank manager at the town police station.
