Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-06-10 21:20 Mangaluru: Five persons were killed and three others injured when a container truck rolled over an autorickshaw at Arkula near Valachil on Friday. The deceased have been identified as Mohammed Unais (20) of Adyar, Mohammed Sinan (10) of Maripalla, Mohammed Nazeer (29) of Sajipa Munnur, Ahmed Hussain (35) of Harekala, Shanthinagar and Mohammed Salam of Nandavar. Among the deceased Mohammed Nazeer was an auto-rickshaw driver and Ahmed Hussain was a car driver. According to police sources, a speeding container truck which was heading towards Mangaluru collided against the divider and rolled over an autorickshaw and a car heading towards BC Road. Three persons in the car were trapped with severe injuries while the autorickshaw was crushed under the truck. An unlucky pedestrian, who was walking towards his home, also died after he came under the truck. The incident threw traffic out of gear on the busy NH 75 for nearly a hour. A large crowd gathered and a few enraged locals attempted to set fire to the container. But police succeeding in dispersing the crowd. The three who sustained severe injuries were shifted to a private hospital in the city, where they are recuperating, sources said. A case has been registered at Traffic East police station.
