Six arrested for robbing and assaulting man

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-06-09 17:24 Mangaluru: Three days after a man was assaulted and robbed by six youths near Somnath Temple on Goodshed road, the Pandeshwar police have managed to arrest the culprits and recovered the goods.Gunaprasad was on his way back after visiting Somnath temple on June 5 at 8.45 pm when three youths arrived on a bike and blocked his way. Three more joined them. Before Gunaprasad could realise what was happening to him, the six youths tied up his hands and dragged him near the railway tracks where they assaulted him. Later, they took away his camera, a gold chain, a mobile, an ATM card and a purse all worth Rs 1,31,500. He lodged a complaint with Pandeshwar police. The police traced the accused near the KSRTC bus stand and on June 8 arrested all of them.The arrested are Sarfuddin (19), a resident of Mission street, Bunder; Mohammed Ramlan (20), from Faisal Nagar; Sheik Mohammed Safan (19), from Krishnapur; Mohammed Arif Faisal (19), Krishnapur; Salman Haris (19) from Kallapu and Sayed Nimar Hashmi (19), a resident of Falnir. Police also recovered Gunaprasad’s properties from the accused.
