Saffron brigade attacks Muslim pilgrims near Kajur Dargah

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-06-03 16:14 Mangaluru: Tension prevailed in Kajur-Kolli, on the outskirts of Belthangady on Thursday after a group of miscreants attacked six Muslim pilgrims who had come to Kajur Dargah near Belthangady. It is said the miscreants allegedly belonged to Bajrang Dal. The victims include Mohammed Misbah (16), Saifuddin (15), Nizamuddin (15), Rahuddin (14), Fazil (17) and Munaf (21), all hailing from Balehonnur in Chikkamagaluru district. According to a complaint lodged by the victims at Belthangady police station, they were taking bath in Netravathi river near the dargah when a gang of miscreants came in an auto (KA 21 7738 ) and pounced on them. While they thrashed the pilgrims, no passersby came to their rescue, the complaint added. It is learnt that the pilgrims were taking bath in the river near the dargah which is also known as ‘Devara gundi’ and the miscreants claimed that the place restricted to Hindus alone. The victims said that the gang took the miscreants to a Hindu temple, located nearby and allegedly snatched their money and warned them against complaining to police. Dakshina Kannada SP Bhushan Gulabrao Borase and DySP Bhaskar Rai visited the spot and took stock of the situation
